The foundation also conducts three major events annually, The Winter Haven Hospital Gala, The Mountain Lake Golf Invitational, and The 100 Holes of Golf Challenge.

The Winter Haven Hospital Gala  

This November we will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Winter Haven Hospital Gala. The Gala is Polk County’s signature fundraising event and is the foundation’s major fundraiser for the year. It provides an opportunity for Foundation friends to celebrate the achievements of our Hospital over the past year. Our 2008 Gala raised over $547,000, a record amount, in charitable contributions for Winter Haven Hospital patients. The Gala helps support services and programs at Winter Haven Hospital, Regency Medical Center for women and children; six family health centers as well as the many other services Mid Florida Medical Services provides to the communities we serve.

The Mountain Lake Golf Invitational

2008 marked the fourth annual Foundation Invitational, sponsored by Bright House Networks. The “invitational” is played at one of the most prestigious private golf communities in the Unites States, Mountain Lake. Guests enjoy a day with both lunch and dinner served in the Colony House; the welcoming focal point of Mountain Lake which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Past tournaments have been a great success and foundation staff and trustees are already planning next year’s event.

The Annual Quest for the Cup: 100 Holes of Golf Challenge

For the past three years, teams of golfers have played 100 holes of golf, challenging friends and colleagues to support them for each hole played. All proceeds from the tournament benefit Winter Haven Hospital’s nationally recognized Stroke Center. This year’s event reached a new record by raising a total of $ $222,515 bringing the three year total raised to over $390,000! The 100 Holes culminates with an exciting cocktail party including an awards ceremony and an amazing fireworks display.
